We have ViceVersa running in over 25 offices. One job on one office takes an extremely long time to run. It can take up to 17 hours or more but only shows about 194 MB of added files. The profile is configured identically to other jobs and all other jobs are fine. Any ideas on what could cause this? The folder that is being backed up is somewhat large (2 TB) but there are much larger folders in other offices that do not have this issue.

Hi, could you send the profile log for this slower proofile and for the faster profile to support via email please?

You enable/profile-specific logging from the profile's Execution settings. Steps and important notes:

1. Open the profile
- In ViceVersa PRO open the profile (File > Open profile or double-click the profile).
- Or from the main/comparison window click "Profile Settings".

2. Go to Execution > Logging
- Turn logging on.
- Enter or browse for a Log File path (you can use variables like <year>, <month>, <day>, <dayofweek>, etc.).
- Choose additional options: Max Size, Empty log file each run, Log only summary and errors, and Log comparison status to CSV (creates .start.status.csv and .end.status.csv).

3. Save the profile
- Save the .fsf so VVEngine or manual runs will write to that file.

Additional items to know
- If the log file cannot be opened or is in use you may get exit code 8 (check profile log/access permissions).
- When running multiple profiles make sure they dont use the same log file (concurrent access causes errors).
- VVEngine also has its own log you can view from the VVEngine taskbar icon or from the VVEngine main page (bottom of the page).

thank you

I did enable additional logging and it appears that the job is re-copying all the security settings on every subfolder of the 2 TB drive. The job does have "Copy file/folder permissions" checked but so do every other job we have running and the other jobs don't have this issue.

This could be due to failing to copy security attributes, there is an option to give an error or a warning after copying security attributes:
Action to perform if file/folder security attributes do not match after copying: Choose an action to perform if file/folder security attributes do not match after copying. Leave empty to not check file/folder security attributes after copying. Select 'Warning' to add a warning to the log file and output window if file/folder security attributes do not match after copying, or select 'Error' to report an error (file or folder is not copied in this case).

The "Action to perform if file/folder security attributes do not match after copying" box is empty. So I don't think that this option is responsible for the extremely log time it takes this job to run.

Does the "replace newer target with older source" option slow things down significantly? There shouldn't be any newer files in the target but perhaps this option is causing the slowdown?

Try setting this option to "Warning" and then check the log file to see if warnings are given. Another option is NOT to copy security attributes at all for this profile if the are not needed to be retained.

This should not effect speed in this case I do not think.
