Hi,

I am using VV pro 5 (5005) and I experience a similar problem to what was described here (over 10 years ago): https://www.tgrmn.com/web/forum/viewtopict4097&highlight=case+sensitive.htm

I am copying to a virtual drive encrypted with Cryptomator, which uses a case sensitive file system. All works fine except for the archiving part where ViceVersa produces the same error message for all the files in the archive. Example:

"\\?\c:\mount\onlinebackup\!archive\c\mount\onlinebackup\desktop\alphabet.xlsb*.*: The system cannot find the path specified."

A file matching this pattern is present in the archive. But its path with correct capitalization is: C:\Mount\OnlineBackup\!Archive\C\Mount\OnlineBackup\Desktop\Alphabet.xlsb_(2023-05-18_09-39-06_OVE_T).xlsb

Does ViceVersa not preserve capitalization when checking the archive? (Even if the case-sensitive name comparison flag is set?)

Thanks for your support!

Hi, I tried to recreate this issue with a new vault , but I do not seem to be able to re-generate this error so far Sad
Could you setup a profile log in profile setting -> execution in ViceVersa and then send it to support showing the errors?
thank you

Thanks for checking!
Correct, the archive is also within the vault.
I sent the log to support @ tgrmn.com

Cheers

Thank you, I was able to check this, and unfortunately, the archive feature at the moment does require case-insensitivity from the underlying system, like in Windows Sad

Querying files using :

\\?\c:\mount\onlinebackup\!archive\c\mount\onlinebackup\desktop\alphabet.xlsb*.*

should return also Alphabet.xlsb for instance, regardless of file casing.

This only applies to the archive function part.

Thanks! You can probably anticipate my next question: If and when will this feature be added to VV? (From my point of view it is a bug that must be fixed, of course.) Wink

Is this issue solved in version 6?

Hi, no, sorry, case-insensitivity for the queries to the underlying file system is still a requirement for the archive function in ViceVersa PRO 6.
