Hi,
I recently changed my NAS from a SVR2016 box to a Synology. Initially I mapped each of the 8 shared folders on the NAS and my profile worked fine.
I've changed the profile to use the "\\?\unc\nas\folder" format so I do not have to have so many mapped drives. In fact I only needed to map them for backup purposes, so this is a much neater approach.
I'm now having problems executing the Sync. profile. The compare works just fine, and some of the 8 source/target pairs Sync, but the others report "could not be created. The specified path is invalid" for the source (NAS) end. Which is strange as the path was not invalid when the compare was running!
I'm doing something wrong, but cannot figure out what. Any help gratefully received. Thanks.

Hi, the errors all seem to be related to :
Copying folder XXXX [Can not create "\\?\unc\ndf-nas-001\Music\DSD\Classical\". Folder "\\?\unc\ndf-nas-001\" could not be created. The specified path is invalid.] [ERROR].
\\?\unc\ndf-nas-001\ is not a folder and should not be created. The issue could be with the NAS not reporting that as existing or ViceVersa.
Would you be able to try a newer version e.g. ViceVersa version 3 to see if the issue is still present with the latest version ?

\\ndf-nas-001\
i.e. without prefix (or is the same error given?)
Maybe for the other source/target pairs it works because no new folders need to be copied only files?

I'm not sure if relevant, but I've run the profile for each of the shares individually, setting the source/target as appropriate. They all fail except for one. Interestingly that share is the only one where the source and target folder names differ. On the source it is "Film & TV", on the target (Synology) it is "video". For all the other shares the source and target name are the same, capitalised on the source (Windows) and lowercase on the target (Synology), e.g. "Software" <-> "software".

Yes. The share that worked only needed new files synced. For my other tests I created a folder "VVTEST" in each source root, and they failed.
I've just tried using "\\ndf-nas-001\" as the root of the target, and that too fails. |
