failing to create folders on source from target using synch

I am getting a strange error when trying to have vice versa synchronize.
if I use Windows file Explorer I can create the folder on both sides. however when vice versa tries to create the folder it gives me an error
File Copy Errors:
Copying folder d:\server\share\Charlie test1\ [Can not create "\\server\share\Charlie test1\". Folder "\\server\" could not be created. The specified path is invalid.] [ERROR].
Copying file d:\server\share\Charlie test1\moon blank folder.txt <to> \\server\share\Charlie test1\moon blank folder.txt (0) [Can not create "\\server\share\Charlie test1\moon blank folder.txt". Folder "\\server\" could not be created. The specified path is invalid.] [ERROR].
if I create the items on the source side it works correctly. this issue only happens if I create the folder on the target side to have it synchronize back to the source.

I have tried it with both the exclude empty folders on and off. I get the same error both ways

Hi, are you using the latest version of ViceVersa PRO? What type of disks or hardware are \\server\ and d:\server\?

Pro 3 build 3001
the source drives are a set of eight spinning discs in a raid six array.
operating system server 2012 R2 standard
the target drive is a VM Drive on a san
operating system server 2016 standard

Thanks, I suspect an incompatibility with the eight spinning discs in a raid six array hardware when ViceVersa calls to verify \\server\ already exists.

Could you post the log C:\ProgramData\ViceVersa PRO\log1_server_share.log showing a run with the error reported?

I think we would need to debug this issue with a special ViceVersa PRO version that checks why the message << Folder "\\server\" could not be created >> is given - while obviously it exists already...

would certainly be willing to try a debug version to get to the root of the problem.

so I was able to work around this issue by using srvany to start up a batch file to run the service instead of the normal vvengine.
the batch file maps a network drive and now the profile refers to the source as a drive letter instead of a UNC path.
