Subfolder filters for [A-M], [N-Z] but how to copy 'root' files

I'm a bit confused with this one. Normally I face a folder structure without loose files in the 'root', so if there's a huge amount of data I create maybe two Profiles with subfolder filters such as :

Profile 1 - include
\[a-m]*
Profile 2 - include
\[n-z]*

which is great and works...but...is there any way to copy loose files that are stored in the 'root' of the structure in one of the two Profiles please ?

So these file are at the same level as the 'A to Z' folders but are not stored within them. I don't really want a third Profile to have to be created just for loose 'root' files if that can be avoided.

Thank you

Hi , these files in the root folder should always be included unless you explicitly exclude them with a file filter? thanks

Would you like to exclude them?

Always include the 'loose' files at the 'root' if that's possible.

Thank you

According to my testing root files are always included when using subfolder filters. Are you seeing a different behavior? thanks!

Apologies, maybe I'm not making myself clear. So the folder structure is :

<root>
\Folder A
\Folder B
\Folder C

\Folder X
\Folder Y
\Folder Z
abc.txt
abc1.txt
abc2.txt

There are 2 VV Profiles 1st one has a Subfolder 'include' Filter of :
\[a-m]*
2nd Profile has a Subfolder 'include' Filter of :
\[n-z]*

So that caters for all the folder at the 'root' starting with letters A to Z, but what about the files at the 'root' ie 'abc.txt. abc1.txt, abc2.txt'

How would they be backed up in this scenario without a third Profile ?

I might be wrong but when I tested this the other day, the root files

abc.txt
abc1.txt
abc2.txt

were include in both profiles (I did not have any file filters)

So imagine I have folders in the 'root' A to Z, 26 separate folders. Then a single file - autoexec.bat in the 'root', so this file is not in folders A to Z, it lives independently in the 'root'.

Create a VV job to Backup from the 'root' to somewhere else and set a Subfolder Filter to include :

\[a-c]*

only folders starting with letters A to C are copied, the autoexec.bat is not in folders A to C it is in the 'root' of the drive so will not be copied. I just tested this in ViceVersa Pro 3.0 - Build 3001 - (64-bit).

Is there any way, in the same Profile, to include it ?

I take it this can't be done.

I'll just create another Profile for the 'loose' files in the 'root'.

Thanks anyway

Try

Profile 1 - include
\[a-m]*
Profile 2 - exclude
\[a-m]*

The root files should be included then in Profile 2.
