Unable to delete temporary file - vv1.tmp Issue?

[Old Fogey]

Hi,

I have tried a number of times (without success) to do an error free copy using AUGMENT from one folder on one internal drive to another identical folder on another couple of internal drives....
.i.e. from C:\INITIAL APPS to D:\INITIAL APPS... F:\INITIAL APPS... V:\etc...

The runs appear to stop and leave a vv1.tmp file in the target drive, and I have no idea why.
I reboot the PC, delete the tmp file and carry on to complete the copying.

I have tried adjusting timeouts etc, but to no avail. I think it is a VV Pro issue, because I do not get errors copying using File Manager. However, I do not use VV Pro frequently, and it could be me.

I have run a Dell diagnostics and the hardware appears to be ok.

Here is the log file from today... If you wish I can send a couple of screen dumps, but please let me know what to do.
Can I emphasise that (based on two days of trying) it does not stop the copying process on the same file each time.

Hi, the error related to the temp file is this:

The temp file can't be deleted.

You can disable using temp files if you want, option is called:

Copy directly to destination file (do not use a temporary file): Normally ViceVersa copies the original file to a temporary file in the destination folder. On successful copy it renames the temporary file to the destination file. Check this option to skip this step. This option is not available when using the Synchronization method.

It's in the profile settings - > advanced settings

Honestly a little disappointed by not receiving an answer to the question of "how do I delete the file?" from tech support -- the file was created by VV, how come VV can't help us delete it? I've had to format the disk in the past, but this time I was able to find a program named "delete dr" that managed to delete it.

I uploaded Delete Dr to google drive to test for viruses, but no promises on my end as to whether it's actually a legit program.


Pretty sure that path length had little to do with it in this case, as the path was only 30 chars or so, and I couldn't delete or move the file in windows explorer either.
