This might not be the easiest thing to implement safely, but is there some way to do moves without first deleting and then retransmitting?

I'm synchronizing two servers, and sometimes do a bit of moving of files. A typical operation would be moving from test to approved folders etc. Since the link between the servers aren't the best some moves could take around 4-5 hours. This is because VV retransmits the files in the new location instead of just moving them.

I'm thinking that if the file has the same filename and the same timestamp, but is in another location it has moved. Especially if it's immediate parent folder is called the same as in the previous location (I usually move the whole folder). Doing full CRC wouldn't be an option (then you'd have to transmit the while file I guess), at least for changes in the remote location, the local might do it.

If it can't be done reliably automatically it might be an option that requires manual approval. Would be great to see such an feature.

Thanks for an excellent product guys. My data is safe thanks to you. Smile

I'm not positive, but it sounds like you need the option under advanced profile settings that says "Copy directly to destination file (do not use a temporary file).
