Found it, and also found our reply.

If you setup:

Source : c:\FolderA
Target : x:\FolderB
Execution Method: Backup (Mirror)

Files that are not in FolderA but are in FolderB are deleted from FolderB (mirroring FolderA to FolderB)
Files that are in FolderA but not in FolderB are copied to FolderB (mirroring FolderA to FolderB)

If you click "preview" before running the profile it will show you the opreations that will be performed.

There is 1 conflict. Conflict files have changed both in source and in target since the last execution. Conflict files are shown in the comparison window with a ** in front of the name. Conflict files need to be reconciled manually, by copying the desired file.

Source Target Total Size Total Size Files 5,813 5.78GB 11,476 8.39GB Excluded Files 60 1.50GB 0 0 Matched Files 5,716 4.16GB 5,716 4.16GB Single Files 15 85.41MB 5,738 4.19GB Added Files (Since Last Execution) 75 1.59GB 5,738 4.19GB Removed Files (Since Last Execution) 0 0 0 0 Newer Files (Changed) 20 32.55MB 2 1.73MB Older Files (Changed) 2 49.92KB 20 32.50MB Conflict Files (Marked with **) 1 23.53MB 1 23.53MB Subfolders 448 - 832 - Excluded Subfolders 24 - 0 - Matched Subfolders 416 - 416 - Single Subfolders 8 - 416 -

This is my compare. Everything will be deleted from my target but the
two files that have been modified on the source. I am trying to mirror
the target to the source.

This is my preview

Source Target Total Size Total Size Files to Add 0 0 15 85.41MB Files to Update 0 0 19 9.02MB Files to Delete 0 0 5,738 4.19GB Subfolders to Add 0 - 8 - Subfolders to Delete 0 - 416 - Conflict Files (Marked with **)
These files will be disregarded.
They need to be reconciled manually. 1 23.53MB 1 23.53MB

It is going to delete thousands of files from the target.
Here is the preview
Profile File: d:\viceversa pro 2\full data.fsf

Folders
- "D:\" <to> "\\Server\wayne\" (Include Subfolders)
- "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BVRP Software\mobile PhoneTools\Profiles\" <to> "\\Server\wayne\" (Include Subfolders)
- Exclude hidden files
- Exclude system files
- Exclude subfolders: "D:\Instant DVD Recorder\"
- Exclude subfolders: "D:\InstantCDDVD\"
- Exclude subfolders: "D:\MSOCache\"
- Exclude subfolders: "D:\My Music\"
- Exclude subfolders: "D:\Pinnacle Studio\"
- Exclude subfolders: "D:\WUTemp\"
- Exclude hidden subfolders
- Exclude system subfolders
Comparison
- Comparison Type: Size and Timestamp
- Ignore 2 seconds difference
- Ignore any second difference
Execution
- Method: Replication (Augment Target)
- Tracking Database: "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ViceVersa PRO 2\vvdb1.tdb"
- Log File: "D:\ViceVersa PRO 2\log1.log" (max 1000 KB) (empty log file each run)
- Log only summary and errors
- No archive for deleted/replaced source files
- No archive for deleted/replaced target files

It does this on mirror and replicate augment

Hi - thanks for the details. You have 5,738 (4.19GB) files which are in target and not in source.
If you Mirror source to target these unmatched files will be removed from target (this is the logic of the mirror). What would you like to do with these files instead?
Replication (Augment) will not delete these files, please check again the preview with Replication (Augment) and let me know otherwise. thanks

I have a brain lock. I understand that if the files are different on the
target that they will be deleted. But I would think that in a mirror that the source ones would be replaced to the target and they are not. Only the delete is being performed. Please let me know asap because I am not
backing up until I resolve this, it takes to long for these trials.

THANKS
Wayne

Hi - you have 20 (32.55MB) newer files in Source and 2 (1.73MB) newer files in Target.

With the Backup (Mirror) method the 20 newer files in Source will be copied to the target. Regarding the 2 newer files in target you will have 2 options in the Backup method: leave them or overwrite them with the 2 older source files by switching on the option in the advanced profile settings, overwrite newer target files with older source file. The strategy behind Backup (Mirror) is that the source is considered the "master" and files in the source are never changed. The target is adapted to match the source.

If you want to copy the newer target files over the older source files, select "Synchronization" and check the preview.

In addition to the above, in the preview you posted you see : Files to Update in target 19 (9.02MB). That is because out the 20 files that are newer in source 1 is in conflict. Conflict files have changed both in source and in target since the last execution and ViceVersa does not know which one is the be kept. Conflict files are shown in the comparison window with a ** in front of the name. Conflict files need to be reconciled manually, by copying the desired file.

I deleted all files from the target.

I ran the same mirror profile.

It worked fine and copy everything but the viseversa log which
was open.

I immediatly reran the profile without changing anything.

Here is the preview.

Source Target Total Size Total Size Files to Add 0 0 1 4.68KB Files to Update 0 0 0 0 Files to Delete 0 0 5,754 4.29GB Subfolders to Add 0 - 0 - Subfolders to Delete 0 - 424 -

Its going to delete everything I just backed to the target.

I am obviously missing something very important in this.

I cannot keep trying as it takes to much time. I would really like to
understand because it looks like this software could do all the things
I have always wanted.

Please tell me where I am going wrong.

Wayne

Something is definetely not right .... can you send a screenshot of the Viceversa comparison window to support@tgrmn.com ? This is the window that opens after you click compare and after source and target are scanned. Please also attach log file, thank you
