I am using the “Backup (Mirror Source to Target)” execution method for 1 of my profiles.

The following scenario assumes 3 SOURCE folders going to 1 TARGET folder (In production there will be more source folders going to a single target):

When I do a many source-to-one target profile and delete a file from the 1st source the following occurs.

It then runs through some cycles:

1. On the 1st timed cycle the target folder becomes empty. It not only deletes the file from the 1st folder, but it deletes the files from the other 2 as well.

2. On the 2nd timed cycle it places the files from the other 2 folders back into the target folder.

3. On the 3rd timed cycle the process is repeated.

FYI
I am running Vice Versa Pro version 2.0.0.9. On W2k3/SP1.

Hi - with cycle, do you mean a ViceVersa execution ? Do you have a log file to check (you can setup the log file in the profile settings).

The problem I have is when I delete\move a file from the source. I need it deleted from the target (They are building up on the target).

2006-02-01 09:20:49 : **** "C:\Branch1\" <to> "C:\Corp1\"

2006-02-01 09:20:49 : **** "C:\Branch3\" <to> "C:\Corp1\"

A file test.txt is deleted from C:\Branch1\

The first execution will delete test.txt from C:\Corp1\ (backup/mirror method selected. If you want to store a copy of the file use the archiving feature)

If the same file was also on C:\Branch2\ and C:\Branch2\, the following run will delete the file from these two folders as well.

Basically VV is trying to mirror the 3 folders into 1 and will make them all identical.

What would you like to see instead? I can try suggest a setting that will accomplish your needs.

I would like it to act similar to the Replication (Update Target) Execution Method, but with the ability to remove a deleted file from the target when it has been deleted from the source without impacted any other files in the source or target folders.

For example:

1. All files are Replicated successfully to Target.

SourceAFolder
FileA

SourceBFolder TargetFolder
FileB FileA
FileB
FileC
SourceCFolder
FileC

2. A user delets\moves the FileA from SourceFolderA. I would like to see FileA deletd from the TargetFolder without changing\removing FileB, FileC, either in the Target, or the other source folders .

SourceAFolder

SourceBFolder TargetFolder
FileB
FileB
FileC

SourceCFolder
FileC

Hi - for this setup you will need to select different targets for each source. If all the source share the same target, a file text.txt deleted from source A is then deleted from target and then from the other sources.

Do you know if that will be a feature available in the future?
