Hi,

I'd like to get a new switch to lauch viceversa and to generate a snaphot of source, target or both for later use.

I think this kind of request must be easy to implement and usefull for many people.

Thanks for your excellent job.

Hello, yes, folder Snapshots is an area where we would like to add some improvements in the next version of Viceversa. We are thinking of command line support for snapshot creation and also verification vs an existing snapshot. Also integration with Windows Explorer, eg right click on a folder to create a snapshot, etc.

We think Viceversa Snapshots are very useful to verify that a folder content does not change and, if it does, to verify what has changed.

If there was command line support for a snapshot, it would be a great audit tool!

You could create a post Compare/Execute script that takes a snapshot of the target. This would be useful for production servers, which have policy restrictions and quality gates that must be met prior to deploying code to the production server. So if a Production team, deployed code using ViceVersa, a post execution script could then take a snapshot with a specific name. The VVEngine could then be enabled and monitor changes on the target, using a profile that compares the target to the snapshot. But to do this you would need to be able to disable the VVEngine profile, execute the copy, take the snapshot and then enable the VVEngine profile, using the command line for the disable/snapshot/enable process.
