I searched five pages back in this forum thinking surely someone must have brought this up, but no I cant see it.

I'm trying to check the changes in a limited number of files that all begin with "nv" (Nvidia files) in two Windows directories.

I set the filter settings to only include these files, "nv*.*"

Well I got the results. Some 29 files that match, some newer or older.

But included in the results were hundreds of irrelevant folders (not having anything to do with the 'nv' filter) that also matched or were newer or older . So I have to scroll through these hundreds of folders just to see the few 'nv' files I wanted.

It appears that I cant filter out these irrelevant folders or exclude them in the 'view results' option, so they just unnecessarily clutter up the comparison views and you're forced to do a lot of scrolling to find what you're looking for.

This was not an issue with older VV Plus v2.42 by the way.

Thanks, we will add an option to exclude empty folders in our next ViceVersa release.

This problem doesnt seem to have been solved with build 2010. Its not just 'empty folders', but all folders with matching names (regardless of whats in them) that come into view.

I tried to filter in all files beginning with "nv" (Nvidia files) and nothing else, and it showed me these 29 files, but mixed in with over 400 folders with matching names in the Windows directory as well.

If you activate the option "Exclude Empty Subfolders" in the profile settings->Subfolder Filters, all subfolders which do not contain a file beginning with "nv" should be excluded.

My apologies, it is indeed fixed. I assumed the "exclude empty subfolders" would only work on 'empty subfolders' but I knew many of the 400+ folders appearing in the view window were not all empty. Anyhow, they're no longer appearing in view, much thanks.

The option will exclude empty folders but also folders that are empty as the result of the file exclusion filters.
