I had a disaster trying to copy FoxPro files [see other thread] so stopped using VV Pro2 until figuring it out, so I just copied data files for a while. Downloaded build 2009 and used the Shadow copy and other options.

Ran it last night for an entire drive [about 30gb] to another drive, all local, no network.

This am, it shows source:
single files 18,303
single folders 1,673
size 11.9 GB

Ran compare and it failed to copy all of my databases and a very long list of other files. No explanation, nothing mentioned in log. With a 30gb source, I had to scan way down to even see the missed files.

Settings:

^^^^^^^^^^

Profile File: d:\xp_files\vvpro\profiles\pro2_D_F.fsf

Folders
- Source: "D:\"
- Target: "F:\"
- Include Subfolders: Yes
Comparison
- Comparison Type: Size and Timestamp
Execution
- Method: Replication (Refresh Target)
- No overwrite / read-only / error confirmations
- Log File: "D:\xp_files\VVPro\profiles\log1.log" (max 1000 KB)
- No archive for deleted/replaced source files
- No archive for deleted/replaced target files
- Copy files even if timestamp changes after initial comparison
- Copy directly to destination file (do not use a temporary file)
- Try to copy files that are in use by other applications
- Use 'Volume Shadow Copy' to copy open files for source
- No empty source/target check

^^^^^^
What did I do wrong?

I changed this line:

Method: Replication (Refresh Target)

to (Update target.)

I don't know if that helped or not, so ran again, and this time it failed to copy +6,000 files at 2Gb.

Ran again, and again, and again, [not kidding, three times] and now its finally down to copy failures of 284 files at 70mb.

Nothing whatsoever in the report! Zero information.
I had to figure this out line by line.

Not too impressed...users need mission critical backups...

If you setup a log file in the profile settings you will see in there exactly what Viceversa is copying or not copying. The log file contains for each run a Status Summary and a To Do section.

Well, sort of. The end of the report says:

2005-11-26 04:12:24 : Exit Code: 3. Execution completed with some file copy/delete errors. [ERROR]
2005-11-26 04:12:24 :

And the "compare" says:

Source Single Files
283
64,995,176

So, the "some file copy/delete errors" are 283 files at ~65MB. I have to scroll down 15gb of files to find them, one line at a time.

One thing I did find: the 'restore point' files/folders were not copied. Is this normal?

Hi - you may switch on the option to log only errors and summary in the profile settings (in the execution section).

Yes, these are the files needed by Windows for the restore functionality.

"Yes, these are the files needed by Windows for the restore functionality."

Thank you.
I know what they are, but I wonder why they are not copied?
