In a way; that is no problem.
If you use i.e. Nero, in CD you can use a DVD "as" a harddisk.
This works realy o.k. !

I have Nero 6.6 installed, but that doesn't work either. Can someone help ?

In any case, I think the website should be corrected as it says "ViceVersa works ... with any type of storage media" ! It certainly doesn't mention you need to use third-party software to use one of the most common backup media, DVDs !

Sad Potential New customer and am very disapointed that you cannot burn directly to DVD which your Web-Site iludes to.

Waisted a lot of my time downloading, installing, and trying to figure this out.

Very Disapointed!

ViceVersa needs Packet Drive software installed to write directly to CD-RW and DVD-RW.

If you already have Nero, Nero includes "Nero BackItUp" which works great to backup directly to DVD and does not require installing "InCD" packet writing software. I personnally do not like "In CD" - it gets in the way.

It would be interesting to know what advantages ViceVersa has over Nero BackItUp. For example, ViceVersa specifications say it supports paths longer than 256 characters. How does it do this? Does it backup as 8.3 format on the DVD (as does Nero BackItUp) or is the full path visible with browsing the DVD. I have innumerable files with pathlengths greater than 256 characters on my servers. If I want to browse for a file on the DVD, it is very difficult to find with 8.3 format by directly browsing (as on Nero BackItUp) - need to use Nero to find it. Does ViceVersa improve on this allowing browsing the full pathlength on th DVD or does it work the same way as Nero BackItUp?

VV relies on the installed Packted Drive software to copy files rto CD-DVD, it does not have a new implementation.
