I would also like to see local PC to FTP site syncing added to the features of ViceVersa. This would allow me to use VV to update my website files after making modifications locally.

I would like to have the ability to Sync from a drive letter to an FTP source and also from an FTP source to an FTP source. That would just take this incredible software to another level.

Thanks, BobbyLand

The problem with the FTP protocol is that it does not maintain file timestamps, and since the file size also changes when moving files to UNIX or Linux, it becomes very hard to track file changes. We are therefore prioritizing SSH : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSH_file_transfer_protocol

Only your one seems so good !

The only problem, our backup are doing by FTP Sad

I just try to install a webdav or something like that ...

Vice Versa has the option to copy the files in a temporary location.

So it could make the comparison(as it concerns the file size) within the temp location and the final destination. No?

Any way the ftp backup is a nice feature even without timestamps...

Understand the limitations of file size and time stamp, but would still like to use just the one app for all my backups/syncs/copies.

As it is, I've had to use a competitor to copy files to/from a web server so they can be shared between different locations ... but their app is so much harder to use than ViceVersa.

SiteAdmin asked if there was a requirement to sync two PCs over the internet ... yes, that would be good too.

I have tested and used a lot of free and fee based backup apps and found VV to be the absolute best for local backups. However, I am forced to use other, less capable backup apps for FTP . We maintain websites and collaborative projects on FTP . Collaboration means that individuals backup/restore or synchronize individual files not folders. There is no decent workstation-based app that supports this.

VV is the one to do it! Do it now!

Hi, do you use FTP or SFTP ? We are not really considering FTP because the protocol does not support timestamps., eg if you copy a file over FTP the timestamp is lost. SFTP instead supports timestamps too.
thanks
