I am trialing vvengine. I can't connect to the engine. When I run vvengine home I get "the page cannot be displayed". The vvengine is running as a process. I have started it as a service. This is on w2k. Any ideas?

Check out the file VVEngine.log (it is under C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\VVEngine\VVEngine.log)

By default you should be able to connect to VVengine using your browser on http://127.0.0.1:8001/

If you have a firewall installed, the firewall may prevent VVEngine from "listening" on port 8001 for HTTP connections.

Looks like VVEngine is already running. Stop it using the script Stop VVLauncher in the installation folder.

Then remove the file D:\Documents and Settings\maint\Application Data\VVEngine\VVEngine.xml to make sure you start with empty settings.

Finally restart VVEngine and check the log again...

I followed those instructions. on restart it created a new vvengine.xml that was the same. I still can't connect. I get the same page not found error. Below in the contents of vvengine.xml. What other windows services do I need running for this to work?

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16" ?>

Ok, run the program VVConsole.exe in the folder SERV under the VVEngine installation folder

In VVConsole.exe type:

USEMEM
VER
WHO

then type:

USETCP
VER
WHO

then type:

USETCP 127.0.0.1 8001
VER
WHO

what is the exact output of the above 9 commands?
this test will help us checking if a TCP connection was created properly by VVEngine

At the end of the test please also post the entire VVEngine.log, thanks

I have figured it out. Found that I could connect from a remote PC. Problem was only with local host. We use a proxy cache for internet connection. The browser connection is usually set to automatically detect settings. when I turned this off, I could then connect with local host. Thanks for you help and quick response.

We plan to release VVEngine beta 2 next week. We plan to release VVEngine 1.0 by end of Sept. The price is not decided yet.

Me back. Yes, I can open VV Home ok. Not sure what that tells us - McAfee still thinks there's worm activity!

Does this mean that VVEngine will not be included with VVPro but will need to be purchased separately?

Thanks

Any update on pricing or release date of VVEngine? My trial of VVPro expires soon and I need to make a purchase decision based on total cost.

Thanks.

We are today/tomorrow releasing VVEngine Beta 2. Then we plan to release VVEngine version 1.0 by end of month. VVEngine Beta 2 is pretty close to the final release. In version 1.0 we only plan to fix issues that may be found in the beta 2.

Re pricing, is going to be $24.95 for installing on Windows XP and Windows 2000 (non-server) and $49.95 for installing on Windows 2003 Server and Windows 2000 Server.
