I'm using 'File Monitoring' - 'Monitor Source and Run When File Changes Are Detected' with VVE 3.0. I also wanted a Full Compare at 8pm but not twice in the same hour, so I did this :
1) 'Run Every X Hours : 24'
2) 'Start Time : 18/01/2019 20:00'
3) '... perform full recomparison if this condition is true (optional) : hour=20 AND changes_detected_run = false'
all seems to work, ie if I make changes to the files/folders after the 20:00hrs recomparison has run and completed but still within the hour of 20:00, VVE treats these adjustments as 'Incremental' changes and does not run another full recomparison.
However what I'd really like to do in addition is ....only have one single full recomparison every day at 8pm, so not when VVE decides to run one at any other time that day/for any other reason
Is that possible ? Is the secret perhaps to add in :
'AND elapsed_days>0' ? |

Hi! I think if you add the variable scheduled_run then you can identify that single run each day.
hour=20 AND changes_detected_run = false' AND scheduled_run = true
This should work to perform a full recomparison only once at 8pm
scheduled_run True if the profile run is a time scheduled run (see "Run Every X Minutes, Run Every X Hours, Run Every X Days " in the VVEngine scheduling options)

Ok, I changed the VVE entry '...perform full recomparision' to read :
hour=20 AND changes_detected_run=false AND scheduled_run=true
So the VVE summary is :
Schedule: Run every 24 hours, start on 08/02/2024 20:00 - Monitor source(s) and run when file changes are detected - Monitoring Level: Subfolder - Perform full recomparison if condition 'hour=20 AND changes_detected_run=false AND scheduled_run=true' is true
that seems to be working, ie no full recompares run so far today.

So its now 8.20pm.
I'd say the full recomparisions are greatly reduced in VVE, by the actions above, but its still running some during the working day.
A very worthwhile improvement, but not 100% perfect in my scenario  |

Hi, what's the reasons for those full comparisons during the day??
In the profile History, it should say why a full comparison was performed.... |

Hi, in the profile page in VVEngine, there should be this entry:
Detected Changes
New Changes: xxxxxx
Show Details and History...
If you click on Show Details and History... it should show the history of changes and why a full comparison is required...

However in the log file I think we have an answer
The Source connection is/was unstable.
My assumption is that VVE (if interrupted by a 'drop' or similar mid Profile run) then demands a 'Full Re-comparision' ?
I noticed these entries in the .log :
2024-03-27 05:02:11 : [ERROR] \\?\UNC\abc-filer\abc$\ImageDump\HALIMG\LIVE\Document\64\00\*.* : The network path was not found.
+
2024-03-26 17:35:02 : [ERROR] \\?\UNC\abc-filer\abc$\ImageDump\HALIMG\LIVE\Document\23\31\*.* : The specified network name is no longer available.
+
2024-03-26 16:11:13 : [ERROR] Error scanning source folder. The semaphore timeout period has expired.
but in the very next 'run' they were found. |

Yes, if the connection is lost / unstable during file change monitoring, VVEngine will initiate a full recomparison as some changes might have happened and not transmitted during that time.
