I tried to backup (sync) all my files on My Documents to a NAS using the viceversa. The NAS drive was mapped as Z (\\storage\public) and there is no security was setup. Basically, everybody can access the public storage. I can access Z drive using explorer and do everything to the files with no access restriction. The comparison worked well. But when I ran the synchronization, the “cannot write to Z:\........ , access denied” poped up and I have to cancel the process. I tried to use the UNC instead of mapped drive, but still have the same problem. I tried other synchronization like AJSyncronizer, SyncToy and LiveCopy, and they work fine. But they do not have the feature that the viceversa pro offered. Is there anything I can do to have this access denied problem fix? Question

I'm using Tritton NAS with NetHDD006-1013 firmware version. The vv is the Pro2 built 2010.

I recently purchased the same NAS "Tritton". I've been using ViceVersa for years and would like to resolve this issue. If needed I'd rather get a compable NAS, instead of ditching ViceVersa. Please help!

Are you also using the latest VV PRO build 2010?

Yes, I am using the most current build VV PRO build 2010. In addition I am using the same firmware version (Tritton NAS with NetHDD006-1013 firmware version) for the NAS. I can supply any further information that may be helpful.

Can you please post the log file so we can check the exact error message text. I think the only way to solve this will be to create a special debugging version of ViceVersa to see exactly at which point this NAS and VV become incompatible. Are you willing to run this special version?

thanks

Yes, I would be willing to run the special version. I played with this a little more and noticed that subfolders are working fine, but actual files are not. I have created a sample folder with typical files (excel, word and text) and one subfolder to help. I'm sure you already assumed this, but my source drive is NTFS and the target is FAT32, incase you need that information. Thanks for the continued support.

Can I assume that vv won’t work with Tritton nas? Or the support people are still trying to figure out the cause of the incompatibility?

TGRMN support,

VV Plus WORKS. I just ran various different situations and all seemed to work fine. Since I've been using plus for many years now I will be able to get by with what I need for now, but I would still like to use the features in VV Pro. Specifically, I would like to be able to run shadow copies and multiple sources/targets. Also I would like to run VV as a service can I do this?

Again thanks for the support.

I was wondering if there were any updates to the conflict between the Tritton NAS and VV Pro. I was hoping that since we determined that VV plus works and VV pro does not, that a solution was in sight.

We are running behind, sorry, but we will compare the PLUS and PRO code and see if we can find the exact point where PRO and the Tritton NAS become not compatible... then we will create a special test version of VV PRO and send it to your e-mail to test. thanks

I fixed mine by reverting to an older firmware version. You can get it at http://support.trittontechnologies.com/downloads/NSSxxx/Archive/5-0607.bin

Thanks, so the latest VV PRO 2 works with the older version of the firmware but not with the new firmware?
