Files Deleted !

After setting up VV to compaire and execute, a great deal of files were deleted from both source and target with no notification and nothing showing in the log file. I used some data recovery software to scan server and was not able to find the deleted files. Any Suggestions?

If ViceVersa deletes any files it lists them in the log file. What type of exec method are you using?

I have it set you Synchronize 2 folders, also check timestamp and size, what it did was delete the files that had the same name while actualy copying the new files to the destination folder. It is to synch in both directions.

Here is a copy of the Profile settings:

Profile File: c:\documents and settings\administrator.headquarters\my documents\viceversa pro 2\ep_kato.fsf

Folders
- "E:\Administative\" <to> "W:\" (Include Subfolders)
- "E:\CDDS_Files\" <to> "X:\" (Include Subfolders)
Comparison
- Comparison Type: Size and Timestamp
Execution
- Method: Synchronization
- No overwrite / read-only / error confirmations
- Tracking Database: "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ViceVersa PRO 2\vvdb1.tdb"
- Log File: "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ViceVersa PRO 2\log1.log" (max 1000 KB)
- Log only summary and errors
- No archive for deleted/replaced source files - No archive for deleted/replaced

sorry, what do you mean by "delete the files that had the same name while actualy copying the new files to the destination folder", can you give me an example? thanks!

in source dir. there is file: test.dwg
in dest. dir there is file: test.dwg

the file in source is newer by both filesize and time stamp. but was deleted from both source and dest dir.

meenwhile file: test2.dwg was copied from source to dest.

Ok, can you post or send via email the part of the log file that shows test.dwg being deleted?

Below is a copy of the Log file, I don't see where it is actualy deleting files ro there names at least.....Does show that a bunch were deleted but I dont see them in the recycle bin eather.

Hi , Log only summary and errors is activated in the profile, so file deletions are not listed. With Synchronization VV will delete a file only if it was deleted from the other side. Have you maybe renamed a folder?

The folder was not deleted or renamed, Its a working dir.
The syncronization takes place after hours. I guess I will have no choice but to take up even more room on server by archiving all deleted fiels!

Actualy I am also having problems with deleted files. I my case however, VV is not the cause. The real cause lies in Active Directory FRS. Are you by any chance using FRS (File Replication Services) ?
