ViceVersa Pro 3.0 - Build 3000 - (64-bit)

I have copied a new User's data files, 20,000 or so from 'Source' to 'Destination' on our NAS without issue using a VV 'Backup (Mirror)' Job. The user has just joined our organisation from another, so our Information Governance Dept. wanted to review the contents of some of the files before releasing them back to the user.

They have given me a list of 180 files to withhold from him, stored in multiple folders and I have turned this into a VV 'Exclude' .txt file with full paths. So what I need VV to do is remove these files from the 'Destination'.

I thought I could run the 'Backup (Mirror)' Job again which of course would show 'Source' and 'Destination' as identical with 20,000 files, click on the red 'x' to show excluded files in the 'Source/Destination' and then simply highlight them all on the 'Destination' side and select delete, but that is not permitted by VV....

I'm going to delete them via a DOS Batch file as a final solution, but wondered if VV could have been used instead ?

Hi, I do not think this is possible because excluded files in ViceVersa PRO are completely excluded (that is move / delete / copy in the context menu is disabled...) I am not sure why, if there is a particular reason for that!

Ok, thank you anyway.

I will make a new Backup (Mirror) copy of the 20,000 files, running overnight, with the 'File Filter' applied this time, then delete the first copy.

Slower.....but less hassle for me Wink
