We recently purchased ViceVersa pro coupled with VVEngine, for a client so we can take advantage of the File monitoring feature so we can have pretty much instantaneous replication the customer's files. It's been working great, however we have 2 issues with it that I was hoping we can figure out with your help:

* Is there any way to make it so files that being created aren't backed up?
To explain, when someone starts making a new file on the network it will basically show up as ~filename.docx, or something like that. Those files are inherently not going to get backed up, so we are basically always getting errors on the job, but in reality is just can't backup the temp file for obvious reasons.
I suppose we could ask vice versa not to backup hidden files if that's possible, but I'd rather see if there's a better way

* We are looking for a way to get an alert if the 2 endpoints get 'out of sync' so to speak, there is a setting in the vvengine that reads "Report error if this profile has not run for more than xx minutes" however if I use that setting I'm liable to get alerts every night when the client goes home, or over the weekend. Is there any other alert that you guys can think of that would possibly help me with this?

thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for purchasing ViceVersa and VVEngine.

I think the best option is to enable the "skip in-use files" in the profile settings -> advanced settings. Then if a file can't be copied such as temp files they are skipped.

Could you use 1440 minutes , i.e. one day?

thanks

Thanks for your notes - we did in fact apply the setting to skip in use files and that has stopped the constant error reports, so thanks! That said, we had 2 issues over the weekend i'd like to address:

1. I am noticing that if i'm not logged into the server running the vvengine the backups do not run. I would really love not to have to do that in order for the file syncs to run, god forbid someone logs us out, or the server reboots, etc.
2. I was not sent any alerts that the backup didn't run, but when i logged into VVengine it certainly had an error that the backup didn't run. I had set up email notifications last week, am i missing something?

Thanks!

Hi, to let VVEngine run even if logged off, set it up to run as service, please see: https://www.tgrmn.com/web/kb/item48.htm
thanks
