Copy Speed Drobo NAS

I've been using VV to copy from one Drobo NAS to another Drobo NAS. I have hundreds of thousands (millions?) small tif images on the devices. It is taking weeks to copy these because of extremely slow copy speeds.

When copying large files, I get about 28 Mb/s. I realize that there are overhead tasks that take time with small files. But with the small files the speeds go down to nearly 5 kb/s. And this is with an idle computer, anti-virus turned off.

Is there anything I can do to speed things up?

Can you run multiple ViceVersa profiles at the same time, each profile copying files from a different subfolder? You can also run all of the profiles in parallel using VVEngine: http://www.tgrmn.com/web/vvengine/vvengine.htm
This should speed-up the copy significantly.
