I'm wondering if there is a way to quickly change the drive letter in a profile without having to reassign the drive letters manually (e.g., every rule etc). I work in a corporate environment and cannot get the administrative privileges to change the drive letter of my external harddrive as one normally would doas suggested in the FAQ section (Go to Control Panel ->Administrative Tools -> Computer Management. Select Disk Management - rename drive).

One approach I have tried successfully is to open my profile in notepad and edit the profile but again this is time consuming and potentially error prone.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Hi, you can use the folder variable :

<label:XXXXXXXX>
It expands to the drive letter assigned to the drive with label XXXXXXXX. For example, <label:My-Usb-Drive>:\FolderA\ expands to S:\FolderA\ if the drive letter assigned to the drive with label 'My-Usb-Drive' is 'S'.
Please note: this variable can't be used with the tracking database or the synchronization method.

or

<serial:XXXXXXXX>
It expands to the drive letter assigned to the drive with serial XXXXXXXX. For example, <serial:A2FF003E>:\FolderA\ expands to X:\FolderA\ if the drive letter assigned to the drive with serial number 'A2FF003E' is 'X'.
Please note: this variable can't be used with the tracking database or the synchronization method.

More info on folder variables in the help file,

thanks
