Guys, I keep getting the message/s below when trying to move/copy information from a WD 1.5TB (EADS) drive in a drive dock to my NAS.

At first, I thought it was a folder that I've had problems accessing before which I assume is corrupt so I excluded it but that wasn't it. It showed me another folder so I excluded it and things started fine. Then it stopped again and showing me the error for a second folder...
This is when it's comparing and executing, ie, checking the files in the source drive.

Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)

Error while reading Source information

ViceVersa Pro 2 (build 2015)

Any ideas?

Thanks

George

Hello, check the disk with chkdsk to make sure the disk is not damaged. Cyclic redundancy check errors are common when trying to read/ copy data from a failing hard disk. thanks

Sorry, I forgot to mention. Except for that one directory that I had problems with earlier, I have no problems accessing the other folders and files..

Thanks

Sorry, didn't do it yet. I thought I'd wait for the reply of my second post. Tell you what, a friend of mine is coming over tomorrow to look at my stuff anyway and I'll have him do the check disk and report. He's a lot smarter than I am. I shall return Smile

Ok, it seems that the chkdsk corrected some stuff so now it works but the folder that I initially had problems with still won't copy. Strange though because now I can ACCESS and view contents through windows explorer but VV still won't copy it. In any case, I did copy it manually so I should be good but now things seem to be working.

Thanks for the help.

Hi, keep checking the disk for a while as it may be on the way to failing. Sad

Damn! Didn't think of that either. I need to get it replaced. I think it's still under warranty.

Thanks again Smile
