Hey!
I use the latest trial edition of viceversa pro on a windows home server (server 2003)
the software has some nice features i want to use in the future. but there is one problem:
i created a new backup profile to backup the files on the local drive d: to a network drive w:! I wanna use the vss-feature because there are databases and subversion repositories to be backuped.
if i execute the backup i get the following error-message:
---- Start copying ----
-- Copying to target...
Initializing Volume Shadow Copy DLL ...
Creating Volume Shadow Copy for D: ... Done. Volume Shadow Copy is at \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy145
Copying file D:\shares\Benutzer\***\***\***\***\***.*** <to> W:\***\***\***\***\***\***.*** (34.50KB) [Can not open "\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy145\shares\***\***\***\***\***\***.***".] [ERROR].
i get the same error message with a different backupsoftware too!
interesting: i have no problems to access the shadow copies from the clients
can anyone help me? i quess the problem is the vss itselfs and not the viceversa sw! i already checked the eventlog. but there is no entry. also in the viceversa log there are no additionals information.
thanks

Hello
Did you replace the real file name with * characters?
Asking becuase * is an invalid character for a file name: it should not exist on Windows file systems and it is not allowed.
