If I set up a job to archive with a daily schedule, is it possible to create a directory with a datestamp rather than have the datestamp included in the file name as seems to be the default?? I think an archive of files stored in datestamped folders would be easier to explore than one folder containing many files all way datestamps in their filename??

Cheers,

Mark

Hello

I think that could be a nice option for a future release, but right now it is not possible... you can use the archive viewer to explore files in the archive folders; this tool is in ViceVersa, under the "tools" menu. It makes exploring the archive folders a bit easier.

thanks

This tool is not listed under my tools menu? I only have:

VVLauncher
VVScheduler
VVLogViewer

?

Hello Mark,

it is under the 'tool' menu within the ViceVersa program; you may be looking under 'start'->'programs' in the Windows menu.

thanks

Has there been any change with regard to this topic? we are archiving CAD files which have internal links to other CAD files. When the VV archive file names are appended with the date, the links no longer work and it requires a long manual process to fix all the links and names (sometimes there are dozens of links to fix for a single CAD assembly).

The solution would be for archived files to be placed into a new folder, instead of appending the date codes on the filenames. This way, all directory paths and file names within the new archive folder would be valid.

This is also a feature I would like to see, as I have the same issue with video files that the CAD guy has with his files. Timestamping the directory vs the individual files would be a huge time saver.

Maybe instead of archiving the files with the archive feature which renames the files , you could replicate the entire structure to another folder using folder variables , e.g. having a rotating target? Would that work?
