I'm running VVEngine 1.1 on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise. Occasional system hangs caused us to go snooping. We noticed that VVEngine had accumulated 69,000 file handles.

It has been less than a week since that last reboot and VVEngine file handles has steadily grown from less than 1,000 (day after reboot) to 6,082 right now. (It grew from 5,800 to 6,082 in less than an hour.)

I read a post from late last year that reported this exact experience except that it dealt with VVLauncher. That person was not using VVEngine. In my case, it is "VVEngine.exe" that is accumulating file handles as shown in Task Manager.

This is our first VV install and is considered test. I was about to move ahead with deploying VV on multiple servers but this concern gives me a bit of pause.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

This is very strange as we obviously test this all the time. Could this be something to do with the settings you are using? Could you please send the files VVengine.XML and VVengine.LOG to support@tgrmn.com? These two files are under the user folder account (that is the account that is running VVengine)

It would also be very useful if you could send us a list of the open handles using the ProcessExplorer program, which shows you what handles are actually not released. See
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.mspx

thanks
