VVEngine stops running

I'm using VVEngine to schedule a few jobs. Everything runs fine for weeks at a time, but eventually, the service gets stuck. The message on the VVEngine page is:

VVEngine is busy with a requested operation. Please retry re-connecting in a few seconds.

What can I do to resolve this?
