Today I started a fresh mirror from one of my disks to another. There are a little over 500,000 files making up about 215gb worth of data to be copied.

While the execution was running (copying), I noticed I was getting slow throughput - it was doing OK on large files (>500mb ), but with the smaller files it came to a crawl at about 47k for throughput. At the pace it was going, it was going to take about 26 hours to complete.

Just for the sake of keeping my screen refresh down (in am TSd in), I checked the box "List only errors". My throughput shot through the roof!

Now it looks like it is going to take about 6 hours (i have full CRC checking on).

My guess is that it writes the log out to a file which creates additional disk contention and also adds CPU overhead - either way, turning off verbose on the status sure speeded things up!
